Conditor alme siderum (7th cent.)
1 Creator of the stars of night, your people’s everlasting light,O Christ, Redeemer of us all,we pray you, hear us when we call.
2 In sorrow that the ancient curseshould doom to death a universe, you came to save a ruined racewith healing gifts of heav'nly grace.
3 When earth drew on to darkest night, you came, but not in splendor bright, not as a king, but the childof Mary, virgin mother mild.
4 At your great name, majestic now,all knees must bend, all hearts must bow;all things on earth with one accordjoin those in heav’n to call you Lord.
5 To God the Father, God the Son,and God the Spirit, Three in One,praise, honor, might, and glory befrom age to age eternally.

Woe to the shepherds who scatter their sheepWoe to the liars and the secrets they keepGod will attend to you lest you believeSurely the true King will come
Surely the tyrant will lose their swaySurely the migrant will find their waySurely the borders will all fade awaySurely the true King will come
Surely the children will be uncagedSurely polite folk will become enragedSurely the jester has stolen the stageBut surely the true King will come
Woe to the wealthy who prophet from warWoe to the church with a lock on the doorYou have forgotten what God made you forBut surely the true King will come
Surely our God keeps each promise madeSurely our God turns the night to daySurely we wait for God, surely we praySurely the true King will come
Holy are they who make room for the LordHoly are we who believe what we heardGod will bring justice through God's Holy WordAnd surely the true King will come
